TEAM Teaching
I team teach with Mrs. Stein. She teaches Math and Social Studies and I teach Language Arts and Science. We strongly believe that the transition our students make between classes is good practice for middle school.
Both of us are available to you! Please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Stein if you have any questions concerning Math or Social Studies. [email protected]

Homework Policy
It is my philosophy that children need time to unwind and relax when they get home. Many students are involved in after school sports, scouts, and religious education classes. Although I believe that academics must be number one, it is very important for students to have time for these other activities in order to be a well-rounded individual. It is because of this that I very rarely assign homework. That does not mean that your child will never have work to complete at home. I expect that they are reading at least 20 minutes each night and are preparing for the weekly Spelling tests. The definition of homework for my class is this: any assignment that did NOT get completed in class. Unless a specific due date is given, all assignments are due the next day. If not completed in class, it becomes homework. Occasionally your child may need extra practice on a skill. In this case, I will communicate with you so you can expect this additional work to be sent home.
You will find a tab called Daily Board. This is where you will see what we have done each day. It is up to the student to bring home any supplies they need in order to complete any of these things. Just because it is listed on the Daily Board does not mean it was an individual assignment. It is simply a list of what was done in each subject that day. If you have any questions about the information on this board, please ask! I'm happy to explain!

Parent Volunteer Slips
It is a requirement by the state of Michigan that any adult that is working with school age children have a background check. In order to do that, a volunteer form needs to be filled out. These forms now need to be completed every year and must accompany a photo copy of your driver's license. These forms MUST be completed and handed into me 10 DAYS prior to the event that you'd like to participate in. I suggest that you fill one out now so you won't miss out on an opportunity to help out.
Snacks and Water Bottles
Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack and water bottle to school. It is the responsibility of the student to take care of both of these items. The snack must be something healthy and the water bottle must only have water in it.
Classroom Treats!
"At different times throughout the year (class parties, birthdays, etc.), it is not uncommon for families to provide the classroom/school with treats that have been made at home. While such gestures are greatly appreciated, they have become a growing concern as we try to address student dietary restrictions, food allergies, illnesses, and hygiene issues. Starting the 2014-15 school year, we are only allowing commercially prepared and/or packaged treats. No homemade treats will be accepted. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
Morning Drop Off
Please remember that students should be dropped off in the parent parking lot area adjacent to the gymnasium. We have seen an increased number of students being dropped off in either the bus lanes or the staff parking lot. Both of these scenarios can lead to students being placed in harm's way. Please help us keep our students safe by dropping them off in the proper area.
Student Pick Up
All those entering the building to pick up their students after school will need to use the Cafeteria Doors for BOTH ENTRY and EXIT.
For those picking their students up during regular school hours, please proceed to the office and sign your student out with the office staff.
Thank you for your cooperation!
